Reef Point Walk
June 7th, 10am (Rain date June 8th)
Celebrate National Trails Day with a walk at
MVLT's Reef Point Preserve. Reef Point is a beautiful wooded parcel
bordering the Medomak River, and it is an ideal location for
observing birds and wildflowers. This is an easy and very scenic walk appropriate for all ages.
Park at the end of Reef Road (off Depot St. in Waldoboro). This event will be the first in our
Summer 2008 "Talks and Treks" series.
Wings Over the Watershed Presentation
June 18th, 7pm
Join us for breathtaking aerial photos of the Medomak River
watershed - from the river's headwaters to the waters of Muscongus
Bay - and explore how historic land uses shape the landscapes we see
today. Location TBA.
Waldoboro Day Open House & Boat Rides
June 21st
Stop by our office at 25 Friendship St.
between 10am and 1pm to peruse our maps and learn more about MVLT
events, volunteer opportunities, and conservation options. Then, head down
to the town landing between 1 and 3pm for a free boat ride on the
Medomak River estuary.
Medomak River Paddle
June 28th, 10am
Join us
for our annual paddle up the Medomak River! Launch your canoe or
kayak at the picnic area across from Hannaford's in Waldoboro, and
from there we will paddle upstream along a beautiful and undeveloped
section of the river. Participants should bring their own boats and
life preservers.
Burkett Mill Trail Network Opening
Celebration
July
5th, 10am
Come
celebrate the opening of our new trail network at Burkett Mill.
Learn more about this 395-acre preserve on a guided walk along the
two newly-constructed loop trails. The wide diversity of habitat
types makes Burkett Mill a great spot for viewing birds and other
wildlife, and the preserve's varied land-use history provides an
interesting study in forest succession. Free refreshments will be
provided.

Storer Pond Walk
July 8th, 10am
MVLT
board member Susan Morris will lead a walk along the relatively
undeveloped shore of Storer Pond, passing woods and blueberry fields
along the way. Meet at the home of Susan and John Morris, 222 Storer
Mountain Rd.
Walk at Beau Chemin Farm
July 31st, 1pm
MVLT
board member JoAnn Myers will lead a walk from her farm to nearby
Havener Pond. The walk incorporates
several ecosystems– hayfield,
deciduous and coniferous woods, wetland and open water– offering
many opportunities for viewing birds and other wildlife. Meet at
Beau Chemin Farm, 1749
Finntown Road in Waldoboro.
Pettengill Stream Walk
August 8th, 10am
Explore
the headwaters of the Medomak on a walk to Pettengill Stream in
Appleton and learn about the ecology of this unique wetland system.
Paint the Town
August 16th, 5pm
Throughout the day, artists will
create paintings of some of the area's many scenic landscapes. A
reception will be held at 5pm in the Waldoboro VFW hall, and the
public is invited to come view view the paintings, meet
participating artists and have a chance to purchase artwork to
benefit Waldoboro's community organizations.

Broad Cove Paddle
August
20th, 1pm
Bring
your kayak and life preserver to join us for a salt-water paddle
around scenic Broad Cove. Meet at the Storer Rd. landing in
Waldoboro.
River Festival
August 30th, 11am - 4pm
Last
year’s River Festival was such a great success we’re doing it
again—only this time it will be a little bigger, a little longer,
and hopefully even more fun. A few highlights will include:
- Live Music
from Steelin' Thunder and The Toughcats
- Kids’
activities including boat building, a touch tank, a critter corner,
games and more
- An
expanded lunch and snack menu
- A Medomak
Market and Fair featuring local artisans, farmers and community
organizations

Antique Show
October 12th, 10am - 3pm
Support MVLT and other
local organizations by visiting the 14th annual Waldoboro Antique
Show! The event will take place at the Medomak Valley High School
gym, and will include over 60 dealers. MVLT is seeking items to sell
at our own table again this year- having a sale table has nearly
doubled our income from this event. If you have an antique or
collectible you would like to donate, please let us know by calling
