Reef Point Walk

June 7th, 10am (Rain date June 8th)

Reef Point is a beautiful wooded parcel bordering the Medomak River, and it is an ideal location for observing birds and wildflowers. This is an easy and very scenic walk appropriate for all ages. Park at the end of Reef Road (off Depot St. in Waldoboro). This event will be the first in our Summer 2008 "Talks and Treks" series.

Wings Over the Watershed Presentation

Join us for breathtaking aerial photos of the Medomak River watershed - from the river's headwaters to the waters of Muscongus Bay - and explore how historic land uses shape the landscapes we see today. Location TBA.

Medomak River Paddle

June 28th, 10am

Join us for our annual paddle up the Medomak River! Launch your canoe or kayak at the picnic area across from Hannaford's in Waldoboro, and from there we will paddle upstream along a beautiful and undeveloped section of the river. Participants should bring their own boats and life preservers.

Burkett Mill Trail Network Opening Celebration

July 5th, 10am

Come celebrate the opening of our new trail network at Burkett Mill. Learn more about this 395-acre preserve on a guided walk along the two newly-constructed loop trails. The wide diversity of habitat types makes Burkett Mill a great spot for viewing birds and other wildlife, and the preserve's varied land-use history provides an interesting study in forest succession. Free refreshments will be provided.

Storer Pond Walk

July 8th, 10am

MVLT board member Susan Morris will lead a walk along the relatively undeveloped shore of Storer Pond, passing woods and blueberry fields along the way. Meet at the home of Susan and John Morris, 222 Storer Mountain Rd.

Walk at Beau Chemin Farm

July 31st, 1pm

MVLT board member JoAnn Myers will lead a walk from her farm to nearby Havener Pond. The walk incorporates several ecosystems– hayfield, deciduous and coniferous woods, wetland and open water– offering many opportunities for viewing birds and other wildlife. Meet at Beau Chemin Farm, 1749 Finntown Road in Waldoboro.

Paint the Town

 August 16th, 5pm

Throughout the day, artists will create paintings of some of the area's many scenic landscapes. A reception will be held at 5pm in the Waldoboro VFW hall, and the public is invited to come view view the paintings, meet participating artists and have a chance to purchase artwork to benefit Waldoboro's community organizations.

River Festival

August 30th, 11am - 4pm

Last year’s River Festival was such a great success we’re doing it again—only this time it will be a little bigger, a little longer, and hopefully even more fun.  A few highlights will include:

   - Live Music from Steelin' Thunder and The Toughcats

   - Kids’ activities including boat building, a touch tank, a critter corner, games and more

   - An expanded lunch and snack menu

   - A Medomak Market and Fair featuring local artisans, farmers and community organizations

Visit the River Festival website for more information on this event!

Antique Show

October 12th, 10am - 3pm

Support MVLT and other local organizations by visiting the 14th annual Waldoboro Antique Show! The event will take place at the Medomak Valley High School gym, and will include over 60 dealers. MVLT is seeking items to sell at our own table again this year- having a sale table has nearly doubled our income from this event. If you have an antique or collectible you would like to donate, please let us know by calling Charlotte at 832-5570 or emailing admnmvlt@midcoast.com.

The calendar is updated regularly, so check back soon! You can also sign up to receive our monthly "e-Update" with news, upcoming events, and volunteer opportunities.

For more information on any MVLT events, email volmvlt@midcoast.com or call 832-5570.
