At our data center in Rockland, a special server sits on our high-speed backbone. When you request a page from the Internet, the server fetches the page, and then compresses it. It passes the compressed page to you, where a piece of software decompresses the data. This service works well for web browsing, e-mail, ftp, and other Internet protocols. You can even select the amount of compression used when browsing. Select low compression for high quality images, and select high compression for ripping-fast browsing. It really does work...
