Current Notices
- May 9, 2008 5pm. In an effort to resolve our recent VOIP
system problem, a piece of hardware will be replaced tonight.
- May 8, 2008 A change has been made to the
lincoln.midcoast.com email system regarding how people receive spam.
Previously, we identified spam with a PJM in the subject so users could
sort or filter by subject and delete it, and users had the option of
having us delete PJM messages before they hit the Inbox.
The new
method is as follows: If you have the optional filter setup on our
server to delete them before they hit the Inbox, that will happen as
usual. For everyone else, mail identified as spam will go into a
separate mailbox for spam. This mailbox is accessible via
Squirrelmail webmail from our website. Spam more than 30 days old will
be purged from this spam folder automatically.
- May 8, 2008 3pm. We're currently experiencing some problems
with our VoIP system. A recent upgrade didn't go as planned.
Our downstream provider is working on a fix. They believe the patch
should be coming soon, but if for some reason it can't be accomplished
quickly, they'll consider "rolling back" the system to its previous,
un-patched state.
- May 6, 2008 1pm. Some MIS VOIP customers are experiencing
problems making or receiving calls since a recent downstream
provider upgrade. The problem is currently being addressed.
- May 5, 2008 We've had several users mention they've received
an email purporting to be from MIS, and the email claims that MIS is
working on the web mail system, and you need to click a link to
authenticate your email address. This is a hoax. Please don't click the
link. At this time, we're not sure if it's a virus or a phishing scam
causing the email, but we are sure it's not from us.
- May 5, 2008 11am. Some wireless customers aiming to Benner
Hill were out of service for a few minutes while a problem was
corrected.

- April 7, 2008 A change has been made to how
kona.midcoast.com/free.midcoast.com email addresses receive spam.
Previously, we identified spam with a PJM in the subject so users could
sort or filter by subject and delete it, and users had the option of
having us delete PJM messages before they hit the Inbox.
The new
method is as follows: If you have the optional filter setup on our server to
delete them before they hit the Inbox, that will happen as usual. For
everyone else, mail identified as spam will go into a separate
mailbox for spam. This mailbox is accessible via Squirrelmail webmail
from our website. Spam more than 30 days old will be purged from this
spam folder automatically.
This change will result in less spam getting into people's Inboxes. If
the change is received well, it will be implemented on the other
midcoast.com servers.

this evening when checking email. This has been corrected at about
8:30pm.
- March 13, 2008 The mailserver mc1 for some midcoast.com email
customers was upgraded. This caused a short outage and delay while
hardware was added. This upgrade should make email processing quicker.

This will affect DSL users
in the areas of: Bangor, Orono, Brewer, Old Town, Millinockett, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Houlton,
