August 1997
- August 31, 1997 A few people have been getting busy signals or
no-answer. We're really embarrased. Equipment to remedy this was supposed
to arrive Friday via Fed-Ex over-night. If it arrives Tuesday, we will
install it Tuesday. If it doesn't arrive, we'll be extremely upset with
our supplier.
- August 28, 1997 We will be replacing the wiring on the Tea
modem server today. It will take about 10 minutes and will probably not
cause any service interuption.
- August 23, 1997 The Modem Server Halfnhalf was sent out to pasture Saturday
morning. A very excited and motivated server named Bunn will be taking its place. We
all wish Halfnhalf the best of luck, and know that Bunn will work hard to please you!
Please report any abnormal behavior.
- August 22, 1997 We are in the process of adding more lines and
equipment for 596, 354, and 236 callers. 35 lines were delivered
yesterday, and over the next several days we will be hooking them up.
- August 22, 1997 The Damariscotta POP experienced a power outage at approx. 11:30 pm on Thursday night. Modem banks
were shut down to protect the equipment after about an hour on battery backup. The mail and web servers as well as other
connectivity was not affected. Normal operation resumed at approx. 1am.
- August 18, 1997 AOL is having some problems with their network
(again) and AOL may be unreachable again today. There is nothing we can
do; you may have to phone them, or give them some time to work out their
problem.
- August 18, 1997 Over the weekend, a modem was not answering in
Washington. We think we've corrected the problem. If you are a Washington
customer and continue to have a no-answer problem, let us know
immediately.
- August 15, 1997 Many of you have recieved and complained
about mail from DeskGate Technologies. We have spoken with the ISP
providing service to these folks and they assure it will not happen again.
- August 14, 1997 The fastest news server around is now
mirage.midcoast.com. (Yes, it's working, off the satellite feed finally)
Once some more content has accumulated, we will point news.midcoast.com
to mirage.
- August 12, 1997 Our Rockland Office has expanded its hours.
We were previously open from 9:00am to 4:30pm. We are now open
from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- August 8, 1997 4 more networks of professional spammers were
blocked from our mail servers today. If you get spam, don't reply to it.
Just delete it. I (jp) get more spam than email each day. We're working
to stop as much spam from coming in as possible.
- August 7, 1997 The mugs are in. Here is a link to more
information.
