August 1998
- August 31, 1998 7:00pm. The T1 to Belfast is not working. We
have notified Bell Atlantic. Bell Atlantic repaired the problem at 9:00pm.
- August 31, 1998 Some equipment was reset to clear a
"ring-no-answer" in a bank of modems. This resulted in a dissconnect for
those folks, but did solve the problem.
- August 27, 1998 Washington busy signals: Just found out that
Northland has been billing us for lines which were never installed. We'd
ordered 5 lines and were ready, but Northland never delivered.
Grrrr. I'll call Northland in the morning and ask that they be put in
immediately. Not having them is what is causing the busy signals some
people have experienced.
- August 26, 1998 A problem with some of the bulletin boards was
corrected.
- August 25, 1998 We've taken care of four messed up X2 lines.
We've also contacted 3com/USR for a permanent solution.
- August 25, 1998 1:00am. A new network card will be installed in
DNS in Owls Head. This upgrade went well.
- August 24, 1998 10:00pm. Lightning has knocked out power to
our Union (785) POP. Service to 785 will return as soon as electricity is
restored. ALL the other numbers are OK and no other outages have occured
due to the storm.
- August 22, 1998 10:00am. A ring-no-answer at the Damaroscotta
NOC was corrected
- August 22, 1998 1:30am. A new Switching Hub running at 10BaseT
and 100BaseT was installed in the Damariscotta NOC. This will enhance
connectivity and allow for smoother operation and futre expansion. A new
lincoln is being built and will have the 100BaseT network card.
- August 20, 1998 A ring-no-answer problem on some X2
lines was corrected at 7:20am.
- August 18, 1998 We have a new X2 number - 354-3680, which
should be a local call for Waldoboro people!
- August 13, 1998 00:30 DNS will be shut down for a moment to add
an network card and increase memory. This will take about 5 minutes.
c6h22o11 will be shutdown to add an additional hard drive for more
capacity. This will take about 5 minutes also.
- August 6, 1998 11:45am
Several more bad modems were removed from service this afternoon. More work will be conducted lete
tonight to affect more repairs.
- August 6, 1998 11:45am
A modem bank in Damariscotta was replaced with a spare. Several of the
modems on this unit stopped responding to dialin attempts, causing
ring-no answers from about 7:30 this morning. This emergency
swap of equipment created ring-no answers for 20 minutes from 11:25
through 11:45am. Please report any continuing problems at the Dama POP to
563-8563
- August 5, 1998 9:00pm A main router in Owls Head
needed to be restarted. This affected many things for about 3 minutes.
- August 5, 1998 Washington was found to have one dead phone line
which was causing Ring-No-Answers. The phone company was called
immediately. The second 56k was also dead, but did not affect
connectivity.
- August 5, 1998 A problem with MailSpinner on midcoast.com was
corrected at 10:00am.
- August 4, 1998 We will be doing some upgrade work on the
Washington (845) lines this evening. It may interupt service for a short
time, but outcome will be worth it.
- August 3, 1998 The 596-2410 number had some problems, most of
which should be fixed by now. I worked much of the day on them.
