February 2003
- Feb 28, 2003 563-6622 is in the process of being moved from our
office in Damariscotta to our datacenter. During this move, there will be
times when 563-6622 will have 15% fewer modems available than normal due
to lines being worked on as part of the move. This should be complete by
Wednesday. The upside of this move is that it having the modems at our
datacenter instead of Damariscotta has improved speeds greatly for people
that use 563-6622. When this is complete, 563-8999 will be moved.
- Feb 25, 2003 Wireless customers who point to the courthouse in
Rockland are having trouble this evening. Someone is presently working on
it's repair. UPDATE: Feb 26, 2003 10:30am. We have replaced a radio
at the courthouse.
- Feb 25, 2003 Hosting customers on Sumatra had slowness problems
this morning due to a denial-of-service attack. We enabled measures to
stop the attack, rebooted the server, and things were fine after that.
- Feb 20, 2002 4:00pm. Carafe, the server which handles incoming
mail for the midcoast.com server, had some troubles this afternoon causing
a delay in incoming email. Any mail that should have arrived before 4pm
will likely arrive during the next hour or two now that carafe has been
fixed.
- Feb 18, 2003 10:20am. Damariscotta DSL is down for about 20
minutes while we switch routers. When this is complete, it should provide
a good speed increase for those in Damariscotta.
- Feb 17, 2003 noon-1:40pm. 589-3003 had trouble. We sent someone
to reset the equipment for that and it is fine now.
- Feb 17, 2003 Some wireless customers using Owls Head tower
are having performance problems today with large file upload and
downloads. We are aware of it and are working at fixing it.
- Feb 16, 2003 11:40am-12:40pm. People were unable to surf the
internet during this time due to a failed network card at the datacenter.
The router had a spare network card in it, so restoring service was just a
matter of changing a patch cord and making adjustments on the router to
use the new card.
- Feb 15, 2003 12:20pm. Washington and Liberty was
permanently rerouted to a different T1 today for better performance.
This did not cause an outage of any sort. Damariscotta will be done
sometime next week.
- Feb 14, 2003 10:00am. Some equipment which Damariscotta and
many wireless customers route through will be swapped out due to
performance problems. This should only be a short minute-long outage while
cables are moved from the old equipment to new.
- Feb 7, 2003 12:15am. The server for midcoast.com will be restarted
to change a hard drive in the redundant hard drive array.
- Feb 6, 2003 The lincoln.midcoast.com upgrade should be complete.
A few problems related to the upgrade have been fixed quickly this afternoon.
- Feb 6, 2003 5:00pm. The server for midcoast.com was restarted. This was not
scheduled - we usually schedule these things for less disruptive times.
- Feb 6, 2003 1:30pm. lincoln.midcoast.com will be moved to a new
server. This will not affect dial-up or surfing during this time. Old
messages on the old lincoln server will appear on the new server about 30
minutes after the upgrade. This upgrade is necessary for providing better
spam control options for people with lincoln.midcoast.com email addresses.
