News & Notices
February 2009
- February 23, 2009 10:00pm. Waldoboro power has been out and
has outlasted our battery supply there (about 20 hours it seems). This
will cause DSL in the tidewater areas to be out of service until things
are fixed or till morning.
- February 23, 2009 7:15am Power is out at many locations this morning
due to the storm. Update: 3:30pm. Belfast and parts of Islesboro have lost
power because our battery system at the Saltshed has drained. We will now have
to wait for utility power to be restored. Many other places are running on
battery or generator at the present time.
- February 23, 2009 7:15am Power is out at our Nobleboro
location and this affects DSL in the tidewater areas. We will have it
running on generator as soon as Ray can get out of his driveway. Update:
We are running on generator power at 9:00am.
- February 20, 2009 5pm Additional battery capacity was added to our
Crummett Mountain repeater location. Capacity was increased by 200%.
- February 17, 2009 One of the access points on Monhegan is having
trouble today. We are investigating.
- February 17, 2009 Dialup service throughout the Fairpoint
area is having trouble this morning. We do not know the exact reason,
but the provider of those lines is aware of it and already working on
the problem. This was fixed something this morning.
- February 16, 2009 Some customer have phishing emails aimed to
get personal information, perhaps for identity theft, perhaps so they
can abuse your account here. It's a form letter to "Midcoast.com email
account user". If you get such an email, it is surely a fake. We do not
need your password, email address, location, or date of birth. Do not
respond to such a request.
- February 7, 2009 Customer who gain access to our Wireless
service through Lenfest mountain and our Long Pond locations have been
having some problems today. This is caused by some ice build up on the
tower at Lenfest Mountain and Hatchet Mountain on some of our antennas.
The ice seems to be less of a problem now as it has warmed up through
the day. When safety is not a issue will be installing stronger antennas
to prevent this in the future.
