February 1997 Archive
- February 27, 1997 During the evening, there were short times
of slowness due to a bad ethernet cable. We replaced that, and things
functioned fine after that.
- February 26, 1997 Looks like there was a loss of network
connectivity somewhere south of Portland, just beyond our network from
20:00 to 21:30. Email still makes it through, it is just delayed during a
short outage like this.
- February 23, 1997 The move is complete. Anything you'd come to
Owls Head for is in Rockland at our 488B Main Street office. If you would
like to stop in to pay a bill, ask questions, or have your machine worked
on, bring it to our new office.
- February 21, 1997 During the afternoon of Friday the 21st, we
will be moving to our new office at 488B Main Street in Rockland. Our
office phone system will be out of service during that time. This office
is more accessible, easier to find, and twice the size, allowing us to
offer more services efficiently and effectively.
- February 20, 1997 Last night there was a problem with one of
our modem servers due to misconfiguration on our part. This was discovered
and corrected first thing this morning.

- February 13, 1997 Northland was observed working on some
equipment near jpmanley's place in Washington. This improved their
connectivity quite a bit. Lets hear some feedback from others in the area.
- February 12, 1997 x106 on our phone system no longer rings in
the machine room for those that used it.
- February 10, 1997 Welcome Mike Young to our staff. Mike's
sales, technical, and telecom experience are very helpful to Midcoast
Internet Solutions and Rockbound Computer.
- February 6, 1997 This evening we replaced the webserver
software, Apache, with a newer version on www.midcoast.com to prevent
trouble. Let us know if this causes a problem!
- February 4, 1997 Union customers should note that if they have
the
new enhanced calling that both of our 596 numbers, as well as the normal
785 number are local calls. Use whatever works for you.
- February 3, 1997 Our server (dns or rtfm) was down for about 5
minutes, unscheduled.
- February 3, 1997 Phoneline problem on 596-2430 is fixed. Enjoy.
- January 31, 1997 Right on schedule, we have our new Rockland
POP running. The main number there is 596-2430. We currently have 48
modems running out of 85 lines at that location; the others will be added
as needed. If this is local for you, and you can change the number you
dial, you'll likely find that this is a very high quality dialin
number.
