line in the middle of a major hunt group which has bee causing Ring-No-Answer

machine today.
- January 12, 1998 MIS is evaluating a new piece of software that
allows @midcoast.com customers the capability to do their email via the
web. Visit Mailspinner here. It's
not quite as nice as Eudora, but it allows customers to check their mail
from anywhere in the world with any sort of internet connection and a
frames capable browser. No configuration or tinkering necessary.
- January 12, 1998 Changes in the email system on midcoast.com
were made to prevent mailing through our SMTP server from outside of our
network. If this causes any problems, tell me immediately
(webmaster@midcoast.com) or fax to 596-7248. There was a small problem
sending initially which was fixed an hour or two later. There will be no
problem sending mail from within our network. If you are on another
company's network, you must use their SMTP server to send your mail, but
leave all the other mail settings unchanged. The reasons for this change
was to reduce SPAM on the internet and provide additional security for our
network.

also affected connectivity.
- January 9, 1998 A power outage at the Damariscotta POP
caused a
brief outage on the primary modem server when the Battery Backup Unit
overloaded and shut down. The NOC is running on the Generator and there is
enough fuel for a few days, so we'll be here even if you can't be.
