News & Notices
July 1997
- July 29, 1997 All modem servers now report the port number and
modem server name at the login prompt. If you have trouble logging in,
please report the port number and modem server name if you can to
webmaster@midcoast.com.
- July 28, 1997 Some users of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 Previews
are having trouble accessing the time machine. There is nothing wrong with time
machine program. Keep in mind that MSIE4 is a preview and is not complete (it's
missing lots of functionality)
- July 26, 1997 Our USR X2 test went very well. If you know
the
number, try it out and let me know how it works (jp@midcoast.com). We expect to
add additional X2 resources in the very near future if most everyone capable of
using it is happy with it's performance.
- July 17, 1997 Misconfigurations at top level Internet routers caused incorrect
domain information to be plugged into the Net last night. There are also reports of three
seperate major outages that are affecting connectivity throughout the Internet system.
These problems have caused sites to be reported as non-existant. Corrections have been made, but
some sites may remain unavailable through the day.
- July 17, 1997 We have properly aligned our usenet news
satellite dish. (with much joy) Expect a nice feed in 24 hours.
- July 8, 1997 the 785 exchange's modem server is out of service
for a while in the morning, we think due to a power outage.
- July 7, 1997 the pop email server on lincoln had an important
upgrade during the afternoon, which caused people to be unable to check
email for 5-10 minutes. No email was lost.
- July 3, 1997 MIS has added a third incoming T1 to our
system. Nobody has that many T1 internet lines in the area. We will
be gradually phasing it into service over the next couple of days.
- July 1, 1997 Another BBS has been added to the Midcoast homepage.
It is a free sell/swap/buying forum for the Midcoast community.
