June 2000
- June 30, 2000 5:40pm. Power is out at the Rockland Benner Hill
tower site. This affects customers who get wireless from this location, as
well as Union modems. We are going up the hill now to investigate. 6:15pm.
This was an extended power outage (due to the storm) which outlasted the UPS
there. Power had returned just before we arrived.
- June 28-29, 2000 Midnight. The modem server buzzbuzzbuzz in
Wiscasset will be rebooted with an updated software revision. This should
improve performance for some. As always, please fill out a trouble ticket
if needed.
- June 28, 2000 9:00am The Union 785 had problems yesterday and
this morning. We are going up there to fix the problem and add more lines.
10:07am, The problem is fixed, and the modem server has been upgraded to
48 lines for 785-6622. There had been a power outage at our Union site due
to a tree falling across the lines. This was for several hours and
outlasted the UPS there, some equipment had to be restarted manually.
- June 28, 2000 9:04. The 589-3003 number in Liberty needed to be restarted.
- June 27, 2000 4:15pm. One of our 4 T1's has gone down. This will affect a few modem customers.
Update 4:45 - the circuit that feeds this T1 is down. We have notified Bell Atlantic and our upstream. In the
meantime, traffic will be diverted through another avenue until a repair
is made. 5:10pm. Bell Atlantic has fixed the T1 problem (and didn't give a
clear answer exactly what they did), and it's working now.
- June 27, 2000 12:45pm. A fourth T1 to the rest of the internet
was installed today. This will gradually be phased in over the next couple
weeks.
- June 24, 2000 9:00am. Since early morning, some people have not
been able to get outside of midcoast. This appears to be a Bell Atlantic
problem, and has been reported to the appropriate people to get fixed. Update: Bell Atlantic had a line card
fry in Portland. This card was controlling one of the T1's that feed the MIS network. The outage affected about 15% of
dialup customers.
- June 21, 2000 00:30am-00:32am. The router zoombrew3 will be
shutdown for a moment to add a network card. This will affect internet
connectivity for about a minute.
- June 19, 2000 9:40am. The server "grounds" is being restarted.
This caused wireless to stop working for a short time.
- June 14, 2000 1:00-2:10pm. Some Washington (845) users were not able
to get outside of midcoast.com during this time. We've corrected this.
- June 14, 2000 00:10-00:30am 236-2266, 596-2430, 593-9397,
832-9912 will be out of service for a short time at this wee hour for some
scheduled maintenance on the router at the Rockland office location. The
other 236, 59x, and 832 numbers will not be affected. This was sucessfully
completed at 00:35 with no problems.
- June 13, 2000 3:30pm. The Union (785-6622) number was
interupted for a couple minutes, as Tidewater Telecom was doing an upgrade
that was necessary to provide more lines. Towards the end of the month,
Union will be upgraded from 24 lines to 48 lines.
- June 12, 2000 5:40pm. The DSL for lincolnville is out of
service. The phone company has been notified, and this seems to have been
fixed by 5:50pm.
- June 7, 2000 In my Washington (845) phone bill today, I
received an advertisement for pivot.net. We went to their webpage and it
does not appear that they have an access number in Washington. (That could
result in a toll call for Washington users!)
- June 3, 2000 8:12am. For a short time this morning people were
nto able to send email out with midcoast.com as the smtp server. This has
been corrected, and has not affected other mail traffic (such as incoming
email or domain email).
