News & Notices
March 2007
- March 30, 2007 4:00-4:40pm. www.midcoast.com server
was out of service. This affected the midcoast.com website and the
ability to send mail during this period for some users. Some users
were unable to surf websites during this time. The problem was a
failed power supply in the server. We replaced the whole server
with a spare for a timely repair.
- March 29, 2007 5:50-6:00pm. lincoln.midcoast.com
was out of service. This was so lincoln could receive the upgrade of an
additional CPU.
- March 28, 2007 North Haven customers will experience a short
outage of a minute or two today while the UPS system is upgraded. This
will increase battery backup run-time from about one hour to an
estimated eight hours.
- March 28, 2007 8:15-9:00am Ragged Mountain was out of service
as CMP did work on the power there from 7:15-9:00am. The outage exceeded
our UPS' runtime. We will be installing a larger capacity UPS there when
the ground dries out. (Transporting the heavy batteries up the mountain
would likely damage the ground during this time of year).
- March 18, 2007 Tidewater area DSL was out of service for
the afternoon and night. This was caused by a misbehaving card in our
equipment. This was fixed first thing in the morning on the 19th.
- March 17, 2007 11:00am. Service is sporadic to our Westport
tower, affecting the customers and sites that aim to that. We believe
this is a weather related issue that should clear up later in the day.
- March 17, 2007 This morning, power is out in Newcastle,
Nobleboro, and Waldoboro. This is affecting Tidewater area DSL, dialup,
and phone support. This was fixed by about 10:30am.
- March 4, 2007 8:30-9:00pm. lincoln.midcoast.com and the
server that handles squirrelmail were out of service due to a
unscheduled reboot of the server that hosts those two systems.
- March 2, 2007 4:30pm-5:30pm. DSL in the Tidewater/Lincolville
areas and wireless in Waldoboro was out of service due to an extended
power failure in Waldoboro. A generator was brought in as power was
restored. The power problem also ruined our main radio at that site.
Things are running on the new backup radio link which is actually a
faster upgrade.
- March 2, 2007 3:30pm Monhegan Wireless customer are out of
service at this time. Once the weather improves a technician will take a
look. If you acutally get good phone service out there, you can attempt
your dial-up backup. Update: The technician found a problem with
the antenna alignment. This has been corrected and all is well. We will
be isntalling a brace on this system to prevent this in the future.
