- March 27, 1997 The Union modem bank is having some phone line
trouble. (*really* poor connects) Tidewater has been notified and said
they'd be working on it.
- March 25, 1997 The Damariscotta modem server "halfnhalf"
suffered an inadvertant lobotomy this afternoon that required the
reinstallation of the Operating System Software. During this time there
were several disconnects and shuffling of modems neccesary to affect the
repairs. We were down to 24 lines for about 4 hours. Full service was
restored at approx. 8 PM. Thank you for your patience.
- March 24, 1997 Due to security concerns, telnet access to our
midcoast.com server from outside of our network is available only on a
per-request basis.
- March 24, 1997 The time machine is fixed.
- March 24, 1997 We have figured out the problem with the time
machine, and we have someone working on it.
- March 24, 1997 The "lincoln" server in Damariscotta was
upgraded to 64 Megabytes of RAM. There was less than 5 minutes of downtime
for this operation.
- March 22, 1997 From 10am to 2pm, we will be hosting an open
house at our new 488B Main Street Rockland office.
- March 21, 1997 Our ISDN dialin number is 596-2400 and is local
for those in the 596/594 exchange. Give us call if you'd like to use it.
- March 20, 1997 Damariscotta/Wiscasset was out of service for
approximately one hour in the morning due to a Tidewater Telecom line
failure.
- March 18, 1997 Busy signals were noticed at peak times in
Washington. More lines are on the way and will be installed on Thursday
the 27th.
- March 10, 1997 Some people might have got a message from "Mail
System Interals" or something like that. It's OK to delete. Not sure why
it's there.
- March 09, 1997 12:30am - The union POP was switched over to a
different leased line for performance reasons. The change did not affect
connectivity.
- March 06, 1997 Nynex has been working on our lines in
Wiscasset today. As the result of a PUC complaint, we have REAL
improvements in service in Wiscasset. (still more work to go in improving
other towns)
- March 05, 1997 Geoff Elliot, the guy who wrote our Windows
Internet Installer, was one of the team who recently found a major (world
famous) security breach in Internet Explorer 3.x for Windows 95 and NT4.
Microsoft has a patch for it here

- March 02, 1997 We have installed a Squid Cache for proxy
caching (will potentially
speed up web browsing). A message with the details was posted on the WWWBoard.
