NEW YORK (AP) -- AT&T Corp. today said it would eliminate its flat $19.95 monthly fee for unlimited Internet access, in the latest industry move to curb the onslaught of users straining the global network.

March 31, 1998 R.I.P 596-7611. We have about 20 high quality USR Sportster 28.8 and 33.6 external modems left after unhooking this. These are forsale for $65 each with a 90 day warranty provided by us, as well as several years of USR warranty left probably.
March 31, 1998 Washington users might be shortly interupted during the morning while we perform an upgrade to the 845 number. This will provide additional bandwidth and more modems.
March 29, 1998 We are investigating troubles with the 596-2410 number. You may want to switch to 593-8000 for an improvement.
March 26, 1998 New lines were put into service in Damariscotta today.
March 25, 1998 All users of the 596-7611 number should STOP and change to 593-8000. If you need help with that, give us a call. If you are on this list, you need to change your modem number

March 24, 1998 Around 5pm, one of the providers of one of our Portland T1s had techinical trouble. This was corrected by them at 6:30pm. Most users were not affected.
March 24, 1998 Northland fixed the 589-3380 number in Liberty. Bell Titanic is still working on the 593-8000 and 236-4098 numbers. They have got somewhat more accurate in their intra-company-fingerpointing and should have it fixed within 24 hours.
March 23, 1998 593-8000 users will have better luck with 593-8020 to bypass the Bell Titanic problem described below.
March 23, 1998 Bell Titanic fixed the first problem with the 593-8000 number and another one has developed causing busies when only a third of the lines are in use.
March 23, 1998 Another hunt group problem has developed in Liberty on the 589-3380 number. only 5 lines out of 8 are available till the phone company fixes that on the 24th. All this time, I though BA was the only phone company with hunt group problems; how naive of me :-(
March 18, 1998 Bell Titanic has been doing a lot of work on the (rockland) 593-8000 number. If it's local, and you know how, please feel free to give it a try. (report your findings on the help BBS)

March 12, 1998 Mailspinner is up and going on lincoln.midcoast.com.
March 10, 1998 The lincoln.midcoast.com time machine was repaired and put back in service this evening.
March 10, 1998 Camden was temporarily switched over to a new X2 system, but was switched back to the old equipment at 6:15pm due to phone company hunt-group problems. Bell Titanic is working on it..... We'll keep you posted.
March 10, 1998 The time machine for midcoast.com properly displays time usage again. (We had to make a small C++ program change)
March 10, 1998 02:30 The lincoln server hard drive transplant was completed with minimal loss of non-essential data. All user mail and personal files were transferd to the new drive with no loss.
March 9, 1998 The lincoln server will be down again for up to two hours on Monday night. Most of the work installing and configuring the new drive took place last night (early this morning), but the swap will take place tonight after midnight.
March 8, 1998 The lincoln server will be down for up to two hours Sunday at Midnight to facilitate a hard drive replacement. Incoming mail will be spooled. Outgoing mail and authentication services may be unavailable for the Damariscotta system during this time. Browsing outside lincoln should remain unaffected.
March 6, 1998 A help page on setting up Netscape Communicator for Email is here. If you are happy with Eudora, don't change, but there are plenty of people who would like assistance with Netscape.
March 4th or 5th, 1998 Due to physical sector errors, the hard drive on Lincoln will be replaced, pending receipt from Fujitsu. Non-critical areas of the drive are affected by this problem. A more acurate time for the swap out and downtime will be posted when known.
March 4, 1998 at 00:30 we will be replacing a router for performance and reliability reasons. This will take about 5 minutes.
March 3, 1998 Between the hours of 2am and 4 am the hard drive on the lincoln server was tested. This would have caused slow or no response to some requests. Incoming mail was unaffected.
March 3, 1998 Some equipment was unplugged to add more UPS power to the rockland POP. No users were affected.
