May 1997
- May 31, 1997 We will be installing a couple of APC Back-450s and 4 new incoming
lines this evening in Damariscotta. This will cause very brief interruptions in modem
service in Damariscotta only. We now take you back to your regularly scheduled program......
- May 30, 1997 Many people have reported to us that AOL is having
difficulties today. Since AOL is so hard to get ahold of, the best thing
you can do is to try AOL at a later time.
- May 30, 1997 Password Authentication was inactive during some of the morning in Wiscasset. Fixed at 10am.
- May 29, 1997 The Wiscasset POP is being renumbered this
sevening around 7:30 to make way
for future expansion. There should be no interruption of service during
this change in configuration.
- May 22, 1997 A newsletter is being mailed out (via email) to
all accounts. A copy is here
- May 19, 1997 We setup a page showing how to use an
email auto-responder. Visit the help pages to see.
- May 18, 1997 An access problem involving who could visit "who
is on the modems" or the time machine was corrected.
- May 16, 1997 Some of our modem servers are being changed over
to the new IP numbers which go with the new Bangor T1. This is to balance
the usage better and will speed things up. It should not affect
connectivity at all.
- May 15, 1997 We plan to setup a T1 link to Bangor this evening
at 10pm for additional connectivity. There *might* be a very short loss of
connectivity at that time. It will not affect email.
- May 15, 1997 The Union POP had trouble during the first half of
the day. It is fixed now.
- May 14, 1997 The Wiscasset POP was upgraded to a server with the capacity for
many more modems, digital services (when we can get them) and a T1 pipe.
- May 10, 1997 The T1 link didn't get hooked up today due to hardware
not arriving as scheduled. We will post the new date here.
- May 10, 1997 Sometime during the day Saturday we will be
hooking up a T1 link to Bangor for additional internet connectivity. This
is done in the eternal quest for speed and reliability. We doubt that it
will interupt service, but if it does, it won't be for long.
- May 9, 1997 At Approx. 1pm the modem server "hazelnut" in
Damariscotta stopped responding to all requests for anything, which in
turn required a reboot. This caused no-answers for about 10 minutes. Film
at 11.
- May 8, 1997 Between 3:30 and 4:00pm things were slow due
to a malicious person flooding our T1. That person's account
has been locked and will not present any more trouble. We suspect the
same person slowed things down yesterday afternoon too (the 7th).
- May 1, 1997 We've had the News and Notices page up for
