- November 23, 1998 The new news-server is FAST. If you don't use
USENET news, don't worry. If you do use it, we hope you enjoy.
- November 23, 1998 A new news-server will be phased in this
afternoon. This should be faster and have more newsgroups and messages.
No changes will have to be made for the people that use news.
- November 18, 1998 Some people have had trouble accessing
Ebay.com, a popular auction site. We've researched this and it's a
problem between MCI and Exodus (national networks) over which we have no
control. Check
out this link as Ebay is moving away from Exodus in order to get a
better connection with MCI and UUnet customers. It seems they are quite
aware of the problem and the solution has not been an instant one.
- November 18, 1998 a problem with the 6th line on the X2/V90 equipment
was corrected.
- November 17, 1998 2 malfunctioning X2/V90 lines were repaired
(moved to our new equipment) and 12 new lines were added to the
5938000 hunt group. 4 lines were also added to the 5962410 hunt group.
A couple more lines will be added within 24 hours.
- November 14, 1998 596-2410 is working quite well. This is
V90/k56flex equipment. Should be a good number of available lines there.
Please give it a try, and if it works for you, continue to use that as
your regular number. This will make more lines available for others
elsewhere. Thank You.
- November 13, 1998 The new class schedule for Midcoast Computer
Training Center was posted today. A link to MCTC is on the homepage.
- November 12, 1998 The T1 from Damariscotta to Owls Head was
down for about 45 minutes. The hardware was checked and showed all good
lights. We cycled the power on the hardware and lit back up fine at 4:50
pm. This affected Internet connections for all users of the Dama and Wisc
systems for that period. The MIS monitor system caught this line error
within 5 minutes, and we were able to address the problem within minutes.
- November 12, 1998 People who use the 236 number now have two
choices! (Hurray) The other number is 236-8345.
- November 11, 1998 The Religion & Politics BBS died and will be
restored from backup.
- November 6, 1998 One malfunctioning X2/V90 line was located and
fixed.
- November 6, 1998 Email over 180 days old, left on the
midcoast.com server,is being expired. Most people don't leave mail on the
server over 180 days. It's just some housecleaning. Some people might get
a message from "Expiry" which can be safely deleted.
- November 5, 1998 PUC case #98-365, that MIS started in May of
this year will move forward again with a technical conference in Augusta
next week. Details are available
here.
- November 5, 1998 A new modem server was brought on line today in
Damariscotta. This expansion adds 10 new lines to the Damariscotta NOC.
Tidewater is unable to create a "hunt group" larger than the exisiting 62
lines, so a new hunt group has been started. We will randomly selecta group
of customers and ask them to dial the new number. This will take some of the
load off the main hunt group and eliminate the occasional busies in
Damariscotta.
