Ria Biley grew up in southern New England and spent most of her adult life traveling the United States in search of home. She found it in 1993 when she moved to midcoast Maine. Already a professional writer in the field of public relations and grant writing, she found that life in Maine inspired more personally motivated writing. She is now recognized as "Maine's leading authority on Angelic Intervention," having taken on the job of "press agent for Maine's angels." A miraculous event late in 1994 dramatically saved the life of her husband, profoundly affecting her perspective, ultimately determining the direction her future writings would take. Not long after her husband's experience, convinced that the state of Maine harbored what she called "a concentrated angelic presence", she launched a media campaign asking the question, "Is Maine Angel Country?" Her mission was to share these personal experiences with others to help them realize that none of us is really alone on our journey through life. She believed that by telling the experiences of real people, others might remember a time in their lives when they, too, had been assisted by celestial companions. People from all over the state - perfect strangers - contributed profoundly personal experiences by telephone, fax and letter. She compiled these with her own experiences and some inspired insights, and self-published Angel Country [Angelic Encounters:True Stories from Maine] at the end of 1995. The release of Angel Country turned Ria Biley practically overnight from an unknown into the second most publicized writer in Maine. She has appeared on television with NBC's Sharon Rose, Cindy Williams, and Jim Crocker, CBS's Laney Witt and Jim Morris, and Fox 51's Marena Bronson; has been interviewed on numerous radio shows and receives frequent newspaper coverage all over the state. She is currently working on a sequel to Angel Country, featuring stories of angelic encounters received from readers all over the country, as well as an illustrated children's book of childhood angelic experiences. Biley is also a regular contributor to Kaleidoscope Journal and the Penobscot Bay Business Monthly, while continuing her work as a fund-raising and public relations consultant. The author is a frequent guest speaker on the subject of angels, public relations and self-publishing. Click here to inquire about scheduling a speaking engagement for your group. An active member of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, the Women's Business Development Corporation, Maine Media Women and the Rockland-Thomaston Area Chamber of Commerce, she lives in Owls Head, Maine with her husband and a growing collection of angels sent to her by her readers. |
