These models result from a conversation,
(visual on my part) with members of the FCnet-- http://www.ferrocement.net/
. Richard Austin (http://home.earthlink.net/~healthstyle)
was interested in means to make patterns for inflatable forms,
for the application of ferrocement housing. The inventor of the
inflatable dome form visited the FCnet occassionally and has a
webpage on the site-- http://paisite.com
. I started modeling the simplified surfaces to better underestand
the objective of these users of the inflatable forms. The so called
catenary arch was of interest, seen in some models here. I believe
this geometry is a good way to ponder interior surfaces of compresive
design for vaults in general.
