Growing up with a new family.

The ride in the car was very frightening. I managed to get loose and jump into the front around the man's feet. He had to stop the car and try to get me away from the gadgets on the floor. Said he couldn't drive with a cat down there. Well, I caused a lot of trouble and then hid under the seat. The man started the car again and after a while it stopped, but I stayed under the seat for a long time. Later the girl, whose name is Sally, came out with some food for me. I decided to go on a hunger strike, but she talked to me for a long time and the food smelled soooo good. I came out to eat, and while doing so, she scratched under my chin. I love having my chin and ears scratched. After a while I decided to be friendly and Sally carried me into her house.

The house was a lot cleaner than the barn where I had grown up. My mother had told me about the farm house, but I had never had a chance to visit. I wondered how to go outside to use the dirt for my waste, so I explored the house. There was a door to a porch, but it was all screened in with a closed door. Then I saw a box full of dry, gray stuff that looked as if it might be ok. I tried it and it worked very well. Then I went behind the sofa and went to sleep. When I woke up it was dark and quiet. I explored the house and found Sally in a bed, so I climbed up and went to sleep. When Sally woke up, she was surprised to see me and she petted me and scratched my neck. I purred and thought that this life might not be so bad after all.

It turned out to be a very nice summer. Sally, her family and their friends played with me, fed me and made my life a lot of fun. They never let me outside, so I missed chasing mice and birds and especially being with my mother, sisters and brothers. Maybe some day, they would take me for a visit. Even if they didn't, I felt that life with my new family would be just fine. Here is a picture of the view I had from a window.

Sally said that the water is called Penobscot bay.
