There are a number of other features that save fuel, such as an automatic shut down of the gasoline engine when the car's computer senses that the driver is slowing down with the
intention of stopping. The 144 volt battery energizes the electric motor when the transmission is shifted into first gear, bringing the engine up to speed. In addition to being easy on fuel use it is a fun car to drive. Though I'll never come close, it will reach 110 mph. It has plenty of power for climbing hills and passing.
