Music Programs

Music plays an important part in every worship service at Rockland Congregational Church. Our wonderful pipe organ, transplanted from the church's former building on Main Street, and the Steinway grand piano are much-loved features of the morning worship service. Musical preludes and postludes and special music for anthems and offertories set the tone for worship.

 

Our Church Musician, Richard Einsel, currently works with five choirs. For vocalists, the Chancel Choir, Celebration Choir and the Alleluia Choir offer different levels of participation and expertise, as do the Timbrel Ringers and the Grace Notes for musicians. All choirs, as well as solo vocalists and musicians, participate in worship.

 

A 2-octave set of Choir Chimes, percussion instruments, and keyboard are also part of the church's music program.

 

The church sponsors an educational program in which qualified piano students may learn, at no charge, to play the pipe organ under the tutelage of our church musician.

 

Chancel Choir This vocal choir is open to all singers (you don't have to read music) and rehearses at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday beginning September 2, 2008.

 

Timbrel Ringers Our choir of handbell ringers welcomes new members to work with our 3-octave set of Schulmerich English handbells. Rehearsals are at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

 

Alleluia Choir This vocal choir meets for rehearsal at 8:45 a.m. on the second Sunday of the month and then sings with the Chancel Choir during that day's worship. Anyone can take part in the fun, "pick-up" choir.

 

Celebration Choir Our second "pick-up" choir, the Celebration Choir sings in church on the fourth Sunday of the month.  This group rehearses with the Chancel Choir at 6:30 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding, and also at 8:45 on the fourth Sunday.

 

The Grace Notes This handbell choir of mostly Seniors rehearses on Thursday mornings at 10:15 a.m. A beginner's group, it is geared to folks who prefer daytime rehearsals. Color-coded bells and music make handbell ringing user-friendly for learners.
