A Parish Nurse ministry is one of Christian service shaped by Christ's concern for all aspects of the human condition and directed to the service of the whole person. It continues the healing heritage of the Christian tradition. The Parish Nurse functions in four basic roles: educator, counselor, advocate and referral. She educates the congregation on health issues, refers people to the right medical resources and helps answer questions that arise. All inquires are confidential. Although the Parish Nurse must maintain current licensure as a registered nurse, she does NO "hands-on" care. Her function is to serve as a resource person and to respond to the needs of the congregation. She is available to work with the congregation's Visitation Team members who regularly visit shut-ins and the sick.
The Parish Nurse, Nancy Lewis, has office hours on Wednesdays from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon. She may be reached by calling the church office at 594-8656.
