How many times have you been sailing with a group of friends on a small cruising boat uncomfortably crowded into the cockpit, while down below there are life vests, jackets and stuff. Imagine having all that space as part of the cockpit in which to spread out with your friends, out in the fresh air, close to the water.

The SAARISTO boat is just that kind of boat. Designed for day sailing, beach cruising and carrying supplies in the Baltic Archipelago, her unique features will keep you safe and comfortable anywhere you may choose to let her take you.

Her size and weight give you the feel of a big boat yet the full, roomy cockpit and low freeboard create a closer connection to the environment.

The cat ketch rig of the SAARISTO boat allows the novice an opportunity for very easy sailing, yet this unique rig can be tweaked and tuned to the demand of a seasoned sailor. Both sails are self tacking. Helm balance, draft control, reefing and furling are at the fingertips of the helm.

Two people can step the masts. Trailering is easy due to SAARISTO's shoal keel, low center of gravity, and easy shape. A full cockpit tent enclosure creates a huge cabin with place for four to sleep, eat, and spread their gear. Under way the foredeck provides cover from elements, as does the dodger which covers the forward part of the cockpit. The side decks are plenty wide allowing for easy access to the foredeck when the dodger is up.

The SAARISTO boat was designed in Sweden by Sven Hellström and is built in fiberglass with teak sole, rails and coaming by Apache Boatworks of Camden Maine.

LOA 24' ; LWL 21'2" ; BEAM 8'2" ; DRAFT with centerboard up is 16", down 5'5". Displacement is 1900 lbs, including 200 lbs of inside lead ballast. SAIL AREA 300 sq.ft.
