Tide's End Farm is my business, my career and my home. I welcome you in and hope you enjoy this little glimpse into me. I was just one of those horse crazy little girls. No, didn't have the opportunity to grow up on a farm, didn't even have one very close by. I was simply born with the desire to devote my life to working with horses and people. My parents finally let me have my first horse Smitty at the age of 12 after spending a summer at Hitching Post in Vermont. I had taken 5 years of Saddleseat lessons in Maine before the chnage to dressage and eventing at Hitching Post Farm.
Over the years I have certainly put my time in competing in everything from hunters to Arab breed shows and jumper to open hack, but my heart was in Eventing. Jumping ahead, I went back to the country of my birth, Canada. I started
an Equestrian facility in Nova Scotia and competed in dressage, eventing
and hunter/jumpers. I did win a number of championships in preliminary-open
jumping, used the dressage ring to improve on all my

I put more energy in teaching and training, but still was able to compete in dressage and horse trials as they evolved in the state of Maine. I was a founding board member of Maine CT Association. In the year 2000 I moved back to my childhood town of Georgetown, moving into the home that had been my grandparents summer place. The 1776 farmhouse had always held a fasination for me as it was so me. With much work to be done we have made this lovely property into a Bed and Breakfast that offers vacations to people who are interested in staying on a working horse farm and taking lessons. We also are in the perfect location to draw people who want to vacation in the beauty and serentity of a lovely home on the ocean. I have embraced the role of "innkeeper" and look forward to each and every guest!
My involvement in the Cleveland Bay world started in 1993, when a lovely purebred gelding came into my life for training. I loved this horse as his owner did and we found ourselves in the UK bringing over 2 more CB's for her and I brought over my 7 month old colt Sultan from Wales. So started my plans for breeding high quality, athletic, sane sporthorses. With our recent move to Georgetown, Maine, we are excited about our new direction!
I have always enjoyed teaching. I am happy to say I feel I improve every year on my technique, communication and understanding. I joined in the American Riding Instructors Association program a number of years ago and have found it to have enhanced my overall view of teaching. Even though certification is not mandatory for Riding Instructors in most states, I wanted to keep my standards as high as I could. I hold a Level III with the ARICP, highest level now given out, in both Dressage and CT. It is a wonderful program and I hope in the future to work with instructors that want to pass certification. All my students, young and not as young have taught me, as well as my partner instructors, the horses. I am sure I will continue learning and as I learn, I will pass it on to those who have come to me for knowledge. Teaching and seeing people progress inspires me, competing keeps the
