Location of James and Mary Pease Graves
1960 USGS Topo map Searsmont quadrangle southeast side of mill pond about 200 feet from pond and a huge pine tree (one of three Sherman Pines saved for ship masts) up on top of knoll shown between Mill and '193' near the left end of red-dash wall line, Lat 44 degrees 16 feet 57 inches North 69 degrees 13 feet 38 inches W. Park car at Cummins Corner, walk about 700 feet to a wider clear portion with medium sized pine on left; just before that tree, take small logging path left toward Mill Pond aiming for highest :Sherman Pine". Cemetery is only 10 feet by 11 feet among small trees 75 feet east northeast of that uphill pine, 200 feet from the other pine that is by the pond shore.

Revolutionary War veteran, James Pease the First, who served on the ill fated Penobscot Expedition against the British at Castine in 1779. During the retreat he liked the area, settled here, and died Oct. 6, 1798. Beside him lies his wife Mary who died March 12 1805. A memorial to him has been placed in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Appleton, Me..
