Girls also jumps in and assists whenever possible to make good things happen for
girls. For instance?
- When
Maine Coast Artists and the Chewonki Foundation co-sponsored their first Adventure
Arts camp for girls, Mainely Girls helped them get it off the ground by offering
encouragement, assisting in the planning, finding them some funding , and
connecting them with some girls who were interested in attending.

Girls connected Cathy Plourde, a feminist playwright, with girls and women
on Islesboro who have wanted to be more involved in theatre there. Cathy worked
with them on a project called Islespeak, which culminated in an island performance.

the planning stages for similar conferences in Portland, Millinocket, Waterville
and Old Town.
