Mainely Girls is inviting girls with Type 1 Diabetes and their parents to participate in a new program - The DIVA Program: The Diabetic Initiative to Value Adolescents - for 10-18 year old girls and their parents. The program offers girls the education and empowerment they need to understand and successfully manage their disease as they grow from childhood into young womanhood. By educating and supporting girls when they are young, this program aspires to help them make healthy behaviors into permanent habits that will continue throughout their lifetimes. The group meets Tuesday evenings, from June 10th through July 29th at the Lily Pond House at 120 Union St. in Rockport, ME. Girls and their parents will participate in activities, round table discussions, and presentations about diabetes, lead by a Certified Diabetes Educator and other professionals in the field. Families will also get to meet other families in the community living with Type 1 Diabetes. Space is limited and filled on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in The DIVA Program or would like more information, please call Christina by June 1st at 230-0170 or email her at mainelygirls@gmail.com. |
