Show Me the Money: Bake Sales and Beyond! A day-long workshop for women creating programs for girls.

October 27, 2003

Mainley Girls is pleased to announce a day-long gathering for women who are leading the way in girls´ programming in Maine. This workshop is for women who organize and direct special programs for girls throughout Maine, and women interested in doing so. Though inclusive of women, girls and programs in cities and larger towns, there will be a special emphasis on those in small, rural Maine communities.

Come spend the day at the Kennedy Learning Center at Camp Kieve in Nobleboro to celebrate the work we're doing with Maine girls, share the unique aspects of your program, learn from others´ expertise and collaborate in addressing two of the challenges important to the success of the special programming we offer to girls: how to acquire local funding for girls´ programs, and how to sustain these programs.

Mainely Girls supports a community-based, grassroots approach to recognizing and addressing girls´ strengths and needs. However, we all need to find ways to develop funding opportunities in our own communities which will support our programs and projects over time.

Several speakers with expertise in acquiring local funding will give a presentation in the morning. Regional groups will then discuss special funding challenges and solutions. In the afternoon, there will be a presentation by women who have some experience in developing and transferring leadership in girls´ programs.
