Up-River Paddle on the Medomak
Saturday, June 26th, 11 am
Medomak River
We are looking forward to another great "up-river" paddle trip on the Medomak River this summer. We'll be putting our boats in at the picnic area off route 32 south (across from Hannaford's) and heading north from there. Our route follows a scenic and calm stretch of the river that is good for all levels of paddlers. Participants are asked to bring their own canoes or kayaks, life jackets, and of course paddles. Questions? Contact the office at 832-5570.

Reef Point Preserve Picnic
Tuesday, July 13th, 11 am
The Medomak Valley Land Trust will host a summer picnic at the 55 acre Reef Point Preserve.  Reef Point is a beautiful wooded parcel with 984 feet of protected shore frontage on the Medomak River.  It's a great location to spot some of Maine's most sought after bird species and wildflowers.  Entrance to the Reef Point Preserve is located at the end of the Reef Road in Waldoboro. From Route 1, turn onto Depot Street in Waldoboro, drive approximately 3 miles and turn right onto the Reef Road. Follow the Reef Road to its end and park on the side of the road. For more information contact the office at 832-5570.

Annual Members Picnic
Sunday, July 18th, 12 pm - 4 pm

We've set the date for our annual members picnic, so keep your eyes open for your invitations this summer. As always our annual picnic will take place rain or shine.

Paint the Town
Saturday, August 21st, 6 pm

Waldoboro

Four local non-profits are teaming up with the Tidemark Gallery to bring you Waldoboro's 5th Paint the Town event this summer. Paint the Town is a celebration of Waldoboro's natural and historic heritage, where artists are given the opportunity to paint special places not often open to the public. By evening these new works of art are gathered under one roof to be auctioned to the highest bidders. There is a reception at 6 pm at the VFW, followed by an auction at 7 pm, led by the lively and entertaining Kaja Veilleux. All are welcome to attend, and proceeds benefit the Waldoboro Library, Lion's Club, Medomak Valley Community Foundation, and MVLT.

Muscongus Bay Boat Trip
Saturday, August 28th, 12:30
Pine Street Boat Landing

MVLT offers this scenic sightseeing tour as a highlight of its summer schedule. The trip on the excursion boat Kieve will last about three hours. Those on board will enjoy unforgettable views of the Muscongus Bay coastline and numerous islands. Common sights include eagles, terns and other seabirds. Seals and ospreys in their nests are often seen as well and can sometimes be persuaded to pose for photos. The trip is captained by Bill Chapman whose extensive knowledge of the bay provides an informative afternoon on the water.  Space is limited and reservations are required. The cost is $40 per person. To reserve a space contact MVLT at 832-5570 or email volmvlt@midcoast.com.

Meduncook River Paddle

Wednesday, September 1st, 3:30
Wadsworth Pt. Boat Ramp

Our next paddle will be on the Meduncook River, at Wadsworth Point.  We will paddle around the river, and depending on conditions, may make it out to Crotch Island.  The trip will depart from Wadsworth Point in Friendship. To get there from Waldoboro, head south on 220 for 9.3 miles, then turn left onto ME-97/Main St. and follow for 2.1 miles, and then take a right onto Wadsworth Point Rd. The paddle will begin at the boat ramp at the end of the road.  Participants should provide their own boat and life preserver, and paddlers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This will be an intermediate level paddle and may not be suited for beginners.  If you have any questions about this paddle, please contact us at 832-5570, or volmvlt@midcoast.com. Also, in case of inclement weather, please check in with the office about a possible cancellation. We hope to see you there!
