Preserves
Medomak Valley Land Trust owns 790 acres within
the Medomak River watershed. MVLT's first preserve, Reef Point,
was established in 1996 thanks to a generous donation of land
to the trust. Since that time MVLT has purchased land and
received several other gifts and now owns seven preserves
in the watershed. These properties represent much of the natural
diversity of the landscapes of this area, and include forests,
blueberry fields, wetlands, and river frontage that are managed
to protect wildlife habitat while also providing opportunities
for low-impact recreation. |

Conservation Easements
Medomak Valley Land Trust holds 2,966 acres of land under
conservation easement. The types of land protected through
these easements include forests, fields, wetlands, river and
pond frontage, Muscongus Bay islands, and important wildlife
habitat throughout the Medomak River watershed. Conservation
easements held by MVLT generally restrict future development
activities from occurring on these naturally and scenically
important places which the landowners wish to protect. |
