The first thing my
clients usually ask is why I call my method Aumwen (pronounced
Ohm-wen). I have to
call it something, right? A name is just a name is just a … well,
actually, a name can mean a lot, so here’s my story.
Aumwen is a combination
of two very powerful, ancient teachings: Aum and Awen.
Aum (pronounced
Ohm) is the Sanskrit word representing the essence of life; it’s
the Universal vibration, the basic and first sound of conception. In Aum
we find pure, unfiltered creation, the Source of all things.
Awen (pronounced
Ah-Oh-En) is the Celtic equivalent in many ways. When chanted,
both words sound nearly the same—that deep, resonating hum of primal
vibration. Awen is an inner light; it gives the gift of poetry
(treasured by the Celts since the beginning of history, as seen by
their powerful bards) and the gift of creativity. It, like Aum,
is the original name of life energy—the energy of Source, which some
call God. Whatever label you feel most comfortable with, it all means
the same: the flow of absolute, unlimited creation which Source has
passed on to us. To grasp Aum and Awen, to feel deep in
your soul, is to become one with the Divine Energy that is the Source
of Universal Creation.
Aum
and Awen

To blend those two words
is to bring together cultures that, despite differences, also have
startling similarities and many of the same primal teachings.
Aumwen combines the world into one basic understanding—in the
words of William Blake, “All religions are one.” Aumwen reveals how
truly similar we are. A basic study of culture and religion is
eye-opening, because it reveals that most peoples have the same myths,
the same gods (albeit with different names and labels, such as
angel instead of god). It’s all from one Source, no matter
what we prefer to call it.
The basic theme of all
pure religions, moral cultures, and belief systems can be summed up in
one world—love. Love your neighbor; love yourself. Act in love, speak
in love, give love and don’t be afraid to receive love. Aum is
love. Awen is love. To combine both words is simply a reminder
that all is one, and One is Love.
Aumwen reveals that the
power of imagination, intuition, and creativity is yours to uncover,
regardless your personal beliefs. As you explore, you’ll find yourself
growing, expanding, lengthening, even retracting; you’ll move in ways
natural if unexpected, creating a denser, stronger, more colorful and
more fulfilled life.
