WHY Crystals and
Crystals?
Crystal therapy (also called crystal healing, or stone therapy) uses
the powerful vibration of crystals to propel inner healing
and soul advancement to a new, highly effective level.
Have you ever wondered why you're attracted to a certain stone, but
not to others? It's because each stone holds a
vibrational property, and your body resonates and reflects that
property depending upon your needs at any given time. The healing and
spiritual properties of crystals can be felt in numerous ways,
depending on the level of healing, what is being accomplished, and the
sensitivity of the client. At the end of an Aumwen session, the
crystals are used to balance the chakras and stabilize the aura.
Every type of stone has its own unique vibrations, characteristics, and abilities.
The shapes, textures, and colors have individual meanings, and combine
for even more powerful alignment. The vibrational properties of
crystals have been scientifically used in areas such as
radio, where the Quartz is used "due to its stability as
channels are split and narrowed to allow greater use of the radio
spectrum. A Quartz crystal microphone reacts to the mechanical
pressure (force) from sound waves hitting a crystal, changing the
sound energy into electrical impulses which can then be electronically
amplified or broadcast," as explained by Robert Simmons in The Book of Stones: Who They Are & What They Teach. Robert goes on to say:
"Other types of crystals, notably Galena and Pyrite, are used in
constructing crystal radio receivers. These crystals are able to
transduce the electromagnetic energy of the radio signal back into
sound waves which are audible to the listener. Crystal radios do not
need a battery or other power source, because they are able to draw
energy from the radio waves being transmitted through the atmosphere.
The crystal radio is simply a tuned circuit designed to resonate at
the frequencies of the AM radio band. These examples demonstrate that
certain crystals can act as resonators and transducers of
electromagnetic energies. With this principle in mind, it is not too
great a leap to imagine that they may be capable of transforming
and/or amplifying other forms of energy which have not yet been
detected by scientific instruments. It may also be true that the human
body and/or human consciousness is capable of detecting, or 'feeling,'
these energies, especially when one is in touch with the appropriate
crystal." (pgs XIX-XX)
Hey, here's a grand word for you -- piezoelectric. Isn't that
cool? Let's say it a few times in succession just for the fun of it
... Okay, never mind. I realize my idea of entertainment and most people's idea
of entertainment ... well, not the same. Anyway. The lovely
Wikipedia.org
gives us this definition of piezoelectric: "Piezoelectricity
is the ability of some materials (notably crystals certain ceramics,
including bone) to generate an electric field or electric potential in
response to applied mechanical stress. The effect is closely related
to a change of polarization density within the material's volume. If
the material is not short-circuited, the applied stress induces a
voltage across the material. The word is derived from the Greek
piezo or piezein, which means to squeeze or press."
The first bit of that was quite interesting, but I droned off on the
last part. Even so, it's an important piece of info, because it shows
that even today, crystals are used in modern medical practices. Since
they're piezoelectric, electricity and occasionally light is created
by compression. Ultrasound machines, for example, use a piezoelectric
crystal to generate a sound wave. A highly focused beam of ultrasound
can cauterize wounds and even take care of tumors, reducing the
requirement for potentially dangerous surgeries.
Certain crystals hold therapeutic benefits. A great example of
one such stone is malachite, which contains significant amounts of
copper. Copper helps aching joints and weary muscles, but too much can
be toxic. The educated use of malachite can a perfect balance to
ensure you receive the correct dose of this mineral (such as wearing
malachite jewelry so only small amounts are absorbed through the
skin). Crystals have the wonderful ability to share small doses of a
mineral that would otherwise be toxic in higher levels.
Crystal healing has been used since ancient times, by a
variety of different cultures such as the Celts, Greeks, Egyptians,
Native Americans, and Australian aborigines. These special stones
cleanse, heal, enhance, and balance all aspects of mind and body
energy to enhance and bring out your full natural abilities. According
to IBM senior scientist and crystal researcher Marcel Vogel, The
crystal is a neutral object whose inner structure exhibits a state of
perfection and balance.
Like a laser, it radiates energy in a
coherent, highly concentrated form, and this energy may be transmitted
into objects or people at will.
With proper training, a healer using
a crystal can release negative thought-forms which have taken shape as
disease patterns.
Does that mean stones are alive? Well, maybe--in a sense, that is.
Certainly they're not alive in the way that we are, or plants and animals
(with breathing systems), but on other levels they're definitely
living, vibrant creations. They grow (and sometimes crumble or decay),
they express themselves, and for those sensitive enough, they can
offer a unique form of communication. Even those not intuned with
the call of crystals can benefit from their healing vibrational
patterns.

Just for fun, here are a few stones and their potential healing
properties:
Amethyst:
Enhances feelings of contentment, deepens spirituality, aids in
protection. According to Naisha Ahsian, co-author of The Book of
Stones and founder of the Crystal Institute, amethyst "can help
one identify the root causes behind behaviors, habits and emotioan
patterns which create imbalance and disease." (p. 29) Amethyst helps
reduce addictive behaviors and obsessive thought patterns, aiding in
clear thinking and helping to balance the nervous system.
Quartz
Crystal: Amplifies the healing properties of other gems and
crystals, and is also easily programmable when directed toward
specific intentions. Cleansing, clearing, and revitalizing.
Kyanite:
This stone is one of the most beneficial for healing work; it can
clear the energetic field and create a protective shield for the
healer. It helps bridge the inner and outer world and clear blockages.
Naisha Ahsian writes (p. 225 of The Book of Stones), "Habitual
emotional patterns can create blockages in the energetic field which
act as skips in a record--the same inner dialog and emotional content
play themselves endlessly. Kyanite can aid in bridging those patterns,
helping to quickly create new pathways of energy flow and bringing
immediate shifts in one's perception of the world."
