Silvia Carrier received her college degree in architecture in Dortmund,
Germany. She practiced architecture both in Germany and the United
States before pursuing her Art interest as North Haven Community
School's Art teacher for seven years. Her interest in ceramics and her
architectural education led her to experiment with the clay slab
building techniques, resulting in the "Island Creatures, Island Sounds"
collection, as well as the Decorative Plates and Wall Art.
All ceramic pieces are created and fired in Silvia's studio space
adjacent to her gallery on North Haven Island, Maine.
Carrier Ceramic opened its gallery on August 10, 2001 on North Haven,
Maine. North Haven is an island located 12 miles off the coast of
Rockland, Maine. North Haven serves as the perfect setting for
creativity with its natural beauty and peaceful surroundings. Carrier
Ceramic has scheduled gallery hours only during the months of July and
August. During the rest of the year the gallery is open by appointment
or simply stop by. To get to the gallery from Rockland, take the

State Ferry
. The ferry ride is approximately one hour long. The gallery
is a short 15 minute walk from town along Upper Main Street. Please
