Recycling

Recycle

Once again we are accepting recyclables at the transfer station. These items will be collected and shipped to Rockport for processing. The Mid-Coast Solid Waste facility will provide this non-profit service.

Our new collection trailer is in place. We are presently collecting corrugated cardboard, newspaper & magazines, tin & aluminum, HDPE #2 milk jugs. We hope to begin collecting glass in the spring.

How to recycle:

Tin & Aluminum - All cans must be clean with labels removed and flattened if possible. It is not necessary to separate these metals. They will be collected in totes near the trailer.

In the trailer:

Milk Jugs - Only milk jugs and similar containers (cider, water, juice) with the HDPE #2 symbol will be collected. These must be clean and flattened with lids and neck rings removed.

Corrugated Cardboard - All cardboard must be dry, clean and flattened. Shiny-coated cardboard and brown paper bags may also be placed in this compartment.

Newspaper & Magazines - must be dry and unbound (no string). May include newspaper inserts, catalogues, and phonebooks. We suggest collecting these items in a bag or box that may be placed in the cardboard bin, when empty.

There will be an employee available to answer questions and provide assistance at the transfer station.

Updated fliers will be available at the transfer station and the town offices.
