My name is Patrick Rowling. Friends call me P.T., or Trick, Daddy-O and Paddy, but nobody seems to call me Patrick.
My Story:
I first remember listening specifically to the bass lines in songs on the radio as a little kid, tunes like; Joy to the World by Three Dog Night, and Papa was a Rolling Stone by the Staple Singers. I started playing trumpet at age 7, but I continued to hear the bass in every tune. I loved the lines from the themes to t.v. shows like Barney Miller and Sanford & Son. I started playing bass in 1981, when a group of my close friends and I all decided to start a band. We actually drew straws to see who got to pick which instrument they wanted to play. I went third, and after the first two guys picked lead & rhythm guitar respectively, I was left with bass, drums, or keyboard. My sister was an excellent pianist (so I didn't want to compete with her on that), and drummers always seemed to have WAY too much equipment to lug around, so bass it was!
I have played hundreds of gigs all over New England in many local bands including Faceplant, the Draw, Pulltoy, Tonto Lavec, Los Carajos, the Elevator Pilots and others. In the early 1990s, I co-founded "Blue Condition" with Paul CurtisGuitar and Vocals, "Hurricane Bob" BelinoBlues Harp, and Toby DiLorenzoDrums. As the original house band responsible for anchoring the Monday Night Blues at the Trade Winds in Rockland, and the Wednesday Night Blues at Gilbert's Pub in Camden for two years, we helped forge the path for the Rockland blues scene that has since spawned the North Atlantic Blues Festival. Currently, I am anchoring the low end spectrum of Three Finger Deluxe.
