CHRISTMAS ADVENT CALENDARS
WAITING FOR CHRISTMAS IN A MAINE FARMHOUSE

The farmhouse is real; an old-fashioned connected one where the house is attached to a kitchen ell. Next comes the woodshed and then the barn. It is near the coast where it sits in fields surrounded by woods.

Real, too, are the three little boys, grown up now, who pretended surprise every December 1st at finding a hand-painted Advent calendar hanging on the wall. Each year it showed a different part of the farm and behind the little windows all the creatures real and imaginary who might live out of sight behind walls, or in the trees, or underground.

Children of all ages love to find an Advent calendar hanging up on December 1. Each day for the next 25, a window is opened revealing a little scene, building the excitement up to Christmas morning.

These three watercolor scenes of Sleepy Hollow Farm feature "The Pantry Door" (hiding all the things the mice stole from the family), "The Corner Cupboard" (elusive elves live behind its shelves) and "The Kitchen Window" (wild animals found outside the farm’s warm rooms). The calendars are printed on heavy stock and are 12”x18”. They fold to fit in a clear-front envelope suitable for mailing.

Hang your calendar on a hook, or put string through the hole to attach it in a handy place. Then, starting December 1st, have the children in your home, grown or not, open a window every day until the 25th.

Calendars are $9.95 each plus $1.50 postage.
