TAMS

The tams are hand-knit in Fair Isle patterns with 100% wool yarns. No two are alike since I make them up as I go along and never write anything down! Once a hat is finished I wash it in Woolite, and then stretch it over a dinner plate to dry. This blocks it and sets the crease around the outer edge. If your tam loses it shape after several wearings, restore it the same way.

My tams are well-traveled since a hat in progress is an excellent project to take on a trip. These tams have been knit on planes, buses and cars en route to our son’s wedding in Australia, Thanksgiving trips to my brother’s in Washington D.C. , and numerous jaunts around Maine.
