Chartering the Windjammers

UNUSUAL GATHERINGS AT SEA

Unique and Unforgettable Weddings, Reunions and Retreats

As well as cruises with a theme

This June, when many brides are heading down the aisle, there will be a number of brides heading towards the stern--the stern of a historic windjammer, that is. While some families are gathering in VFW halls, others will descend on spruce-clad, uninhabited islands dotting the pristine waters of the Penobscot Bay. By the same token, business associates will sail, hike and explore, or just pass the butter during an authentic beachside lobster bake. And we expect that many stories will be imaginatively revised over watermelon and s'mores.

With passenger capacities ranging from 20 - 40 guests, the twelve vessels in the Maine Windjammer Association can accommodate most reunions, corporate retreats and wedding parties. If your numbers require it, chartering a second boat is always an option. Most of the captains are licensed to perform weddings and will allow children of all ages on chartered cruises.

What's more, windjammers are now offering a variety of cruises-with-a-focus including photography, art, whale watching and family cruises. While the spirit of windjamming suggests that no strict itinerary be adhered to, these theme cruises lend an extra-curricular focus to those who would like to brush up on a hobby or two.
