darena.gif (2849 bytes) The Community Programs Division oversees the D.A.R.E. Program ( Drug Abuse Resistance Education) for thirteen county schools. Three deputies Det. Sgt. Rand Maker, Det. Sgt. Kenneth Hatch and Reserve Deputy Carl Fleck present the seventeen week drug prevention program to mostly fifth and sixth graders. D.A.R.E. is designed to let children practice how to refuse drugs when offered, raises their awareness of how advertisements lure them into believing that using drugs is OK and give them a basic understanding about how to prevent violence from affecting their lives. This Division also oversees other community safety programs and the Enhanced Neighborhood Policing Project.
