VISION:

Citizens for Global Solutions envisions a future in which nations work together to abolish war, protect our rights and freedoms, and solve the problems facing humanity that no nation can solve alone. This vision requires effective democratic global institutions that will apply the rule of law while respecting the diversity and autonomy of national and local communities.
MISSION:

We are a membership organization working to build political will in the United States to achieve our vision. We do this by educating Americans about our global interdependence, communicating global concerns to public officials, and developing proposals to create, reform and strengthen
international institutions
such as the United Nations.

Lee Davis,
CGS-Maine Chair,
op-ed, Bangor Daily News,
10/1/99
No nation-state should be allowed to violate the inalienable human rights of life and liberty of its citizens. With genocide, the nation-state is often the problem, the perpetrator of the crime, rather than the solution. Global solutions are needed for such global problems.

Walter Cronkite,
accepting Norman Cousins
Global Governance Award,
New York City, 10/99

I believe that the first priority in this difficult era is to establish an effective system of governance that will ensure peace and justice among the peoples of all the world. Those of us who are living today can truly influence the future of civilization. We can influence whether our planet is going to live or die, whether it is going to drift into chaos or violence, or whether through a monumental educational & political effort, we will achieve world peace under a system of law.

John B. Anderson,
WFA President Emeritus
We must urge full participation in the global community, seeing the [planet] as one world whose political lines fade in the face of such issues as global warming, population growth, fair trade, and nuclear proliferation. Making the United Nations and other global bodies a success is imperative for those wanting a secure future.
