    If you decide to get back into your car and explore the area, you'll find you are just minutes away from:

  • Waldo Tyler Wildlife Sanctuary - The Weskeag Marsh is a site for bird watching field trips by the Maine Audubon Society.

  • Owls Head Transportation Museum - We often have a ring-side seating on the front porch as the antique cars and trucks drive by to events and antique airplanes fly loops overhead.
  • Birch Point State Park Beach - (one of my favorite places!) sandy beach - great rock outcroppings - trails through the adjacent woods.

  • Owls Head Light House and park (with a beach and picnic tables)
  • Knox County Regional Airport - you really CAN get here from there!

    Rockland - Lobster Capital of the World . . . . and much more! Rockland is a growing place! In summer there are all kinds of festivals and things to do, In winter, we still have outstanding art galleries, antique stores, many good restaurants.

  • Schooner Days and Atlantic Blues Festival - a very popular July event
  • Famous Maine Lobster Festival (celebrated for over 50 years)- first part of August 4 days
  • Farnsworth Art Museum - Wyeth Center (a main Maine draw!)

    The Olson House made famous by Andrew Wyeth is in Cushing nearby (The horse lives nearby and is a regular visitor.)

  • A harbor full of pleasure and work boats and windjammers.
  • Ferries toVinalhaven and North Haven
  • Mile long breakwater you can walk along to Rockland Lighthouse - a good place to fish from or to have a picnic.
